Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 4, 2026
The short version. I collect what I need to run the Wound & Wrist Bound app and beta and to stay in touch with testers. Your collection is private unless you choose to make it public, and prices, serial numbers, purchase details and notes are never shown to anyone else. What you post in The Salon, the app's community area, is visible to other members. I do not sell your information. You can delete your posts, your account and your collection in the app at any time, or ask me to delete your information by emailing contact@woundandabout.com.
1. Who I am
Wound & About is a watch content brand and the maker of the Wound & Wrist Bound app. It is run by Jeff Heinzelman, based in Texas, United States. In this policy, "I", "me" and "my" refer to Jeff Heinzelman operating Wound & About. This policy covers woundandabout.com, woundandabout.watch, the Wound & Wrist Bound app (including The Salon) and its beta program. Using the app is also subject to the Terms of Use.
2. What I collect
When you request early access, the signup form collects:
- Your name and email address (required)
- Your Instagram and TikTok handles and your country of residence (optional)
- Your confirmation that you are 18 or older and agree to the Beta Terms
- Whether you opted in to Wound & About updates
- The date and time you submitted the form
When you use the app, I collect:
- Account information: your name, your email address, and how you sign in (Apple, Google, or email and password)
- Your collection: what you enter about your watches, straps, wish list and wear history, such as brands, models, specifications, serial numbers, purchase and sale prices and dates, notes and ratings
- Photos you add to watches, straps, your profile and your posts. I take steps to remove location data from photos when they are uploaded.
- Technical information: your IP address and session details, used to keep you signed in, secure the service and limit abuse
- Feedback you send in the app, along with app and device details such as app version and device model
When you use The Salon, I also collect:
- Your profile: your handle, and optionally a display name, profile photo and bio, plus the badges you choose to show
- Your activity: Wrist Checks and New Arrivals you post (photo, caption and the watch's brand and model), comments, answers to the Question of the Day, likes, follows, and the "Want" button when you tap it
- Your settings: whether your collection is public, any watches you hide, members you block, your notification choices, and which version of the Terms of Use you agreed to and when
- Your time zone, sent by the app so daily content, quiet hours and notifications follow your local time
- Safety records: reports you make or receive, blocks, text the word filter stopped, and any moderation action taken on your account or content
- Notification details: if you allow push notifications, your phone's push token, which Apple uses to deliver them
When you use AI auto-fill, where it is available to you, the photo or web link you provide is sent to service providers to identify the watch or fetch the page and read its specifications. See section 6.
When you test the app through TestFlight, Apple shares certain information with me as the developer. According to Apple, this can include the email address and name used for your invitation, your invitation status, your device model and identifier, operating system version, device language, number of sessions and installs, and crash logs. If you send feedback through TestFlight, Apple also shares your comments and screenshots, along with technical details such as carrier, time zone, connection type, free disk space, battery level and screen resolution. Apple's own handling of your data is described in Apple's TestFlight privacy information.
When you contact me or reply to a feedback request, I receive whatever you choose to send.
When you visit the website, I do not use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. The website host may automatically log technical information such as your IP address and browser type for security and reliability. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers and shares your IP address with Google when a page loads.
3. What other members can see
Always visible to signed-in members once you set up a profile in The Salon: your handle, display name, profile photo, bio, "Member since" date, Showcase badges, follower and following counts, and your Wrist Checks, New Arrivals, comments and answers. A post shows the watch's brand and model, your photo and your caption, even if your collection is private.
Visible only if you turn on "Make my collection public": the brand, model, basic specifications, photos and wear count of your watches, except any watch you hide. Your wish list and sold watches are not shown.
Never shown to other members, under any setting: prices and value, serial numbers, purchase and sale details, notes, condition, box and papers, your email address, and who you block or report.
Anonymous counts. Some features show numbers without names: "Owned by N members" on a watch counts every member who owns the same brand and model, including private collections, and only appears when the number is 3 or more. A post's owner sees how many members tapped "Want", never who. Like counts are shown on posts. Suggested members are based only on public collections and posts, never on private collections.
If you block someone, neither of you can see the other's profile, posts or comments.
4. How I use it
- To provide the app: storing your collection, syncing it across your devices, and backing it up to the cloud
- To run The Salon: showing your profile and posts to other members, building the feed, daily content and Watch of the Day, suggesting members to follow, and showing anonymous counts
- To send in-app and push notifications you have allowed, such as new followers, comments, a likes summary and Watch of the Day. You can turn each type off in Settings, under The Salon.
- To keep The Salon safe: filtering words, reviewing reports and blocks, and warning, suspending or removing members or content that break the Terms of Use
- To fill in watch details for you when you use AI auto-fill
- To send your TestFlight invitation and run the beta program
- To ask for your feedback, ideas and survey responses, and to send beta updates such as new builds and changes
- To understand who is testing, for example which countries testers are in
- To fix bugs and improve the app
- If you opted in, to send occasional Wound & About updates about content and the app
- To prevent spam and abuse and to meet legal obligations
I do not use your information for advertising or tracking across other apps and websites. Optional social handles help me recognize testers in the community. I will not post about you or tag you outside the app without your permission.
5. Legal bases (EEA, UK and similar regions)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or another region with similar laws, I process your account, collection and Salon information to provide the app you asked to use. I rely on your consent to process your signup information, to send push notifications and to send optional updates, and on my legitimate interest in running, securing, moderating and improving the app and the beta. You can withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing does not affect processing that happened before.
6. Who I share it with
I do not sell or rent your personal information. Besides what other members can see (section 3), I share it only with service providers that help me run the app, the beta and the website:
- Emergent, which hosts the app's server, stores your photos, provides Google sign-in and sends app emails such as password resets
- MongoDB, the database that stores your account, the cloud copy of your collection and your Salon activity
- Anthropic, whose Claude AI identifies watches from photos and reads specifications from web pages when you use AI auto-fill
- ScrapingBee, which fetches the web page at a link you submit to AI auto-fill
- Google, which provides Google sign-in, stores signup form responses (Google Forms and Google Sheets) and serves the website fonts
- Apple, which provides Sign in with Apple, delivers push notifications, and delivers TestFlight invitations and beta builds
- My website host, which serves the website
- My email provider, if I email you
I may also disclose information if required by law or to protect my rights, users or the public.
7. International transfers
I am based in the United States, and my service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. If you are outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in countries whose data protection laws may differ from yours. By requesting access or using the app, you understand this transfer.
8. How long I keep it
App data stays until you delete it or delete your account.
- When you delete a watch or strap, it disappears from the app. It stays marked as deleted in the cloud copy of your collection so the deletion syncs to your other devices, and is removed completely when you delete your account.
- When you delete a post, its photo, likes, comments and "Want" counts are removed. Wish list items other members already added stay on their lists, but without your photo.
- When you remove a photo, delete a post or a watch, or delete your account, I erase the photo's image and block its link so it no longer opens for anyone, unless another part of the app still uses the same photo. Because of how my storage provider works, an empty placeholder file may remain, and copies kept by networks between you and the server may take a short time to expire.
- When you delete your account, I remove your account, sessions, profile and handle, the cloud copy of your collection, and your posts, comments, answers, likes and follows, and the app clears its data from your phone. Reports you made stay but no longer show that they came from you. Backup files you exported yourself are yours, and I cannot delete them.
- In-app notifications are kept for 90 days.
- Safety records (reports and moderation actions) are kept for 12 months, then deleted, unless a member was permanently suspended. A handle removed by moderation may stay reserved so no one else can take it.
Signup and tester information is kept for as long as the beta runs and for a reasonable period afterward, then deleted. If you opted in to updates, I keep your email for that purpose until you unsubscribe. You can ask me to delete your information sooner.
9. Your choices and rights
- Collection visibility: turn "Make my collection public" on or off in Settings, under The Salon, and hide any watch from its edit screen.
- Your content: edit or delete your posts, comments and answers at any time.
- Blocking and reporting: block or report any member or content from its "..." menu.
- Notifications: turn push notifications, or each type, off in Settings, under The Salon, or in your phone's settings.
- Delete your account and everything in it from the app: tap your photo at the top right, then the gear for Settings, then Delete account under Advanced security. You can also export a copy of your collection from Data & Backup in Settings.
You can ask me to access, correct or delete your information, to stop contacting you, or to remove you from the beta. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to receive a copy of your data, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Email contact@woundandabout.com and I will respond within a reasonable time and within any period required by law. Every update email includes a way to unsubscribe.
10. Age requirement
The app and the beta are only for people 18 or older. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If I learn that I have, I will delete it.
11. Security
I use reasonable measures to protect your information, such as limiting access to the accounts that store it and checking on the server that private fields are never sent to other members. Photo links contain long random codes that cannot be guessed, but anyone who has a photo's link can open it until it is deleted, so avoid sharing those links. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so I cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Changes to this policy
If I change this policy, I will update the date at the top. If a change is significant, I will tell members in the app or by email.
